Federal Response and Recovery Updates:
o The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has deployed 420 employees.
o FEMA has approved more than $2.3 million in assistance to 1,331 households, including more than $798,000 in initial rental assistance.
o The President has authorized the Federal cost share for Public Assistance grants to be increased from 75% to 100% for 30 days within the first 120 days of the State’s choosing.
o The U.S. Coast Guard has reduced the size of the Safety Zone. Access is authorized on a case-by-case basis.
o The U.S. Small Business Administration has deployed more than 30 personnel.
o The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is providing a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures of Federal Housing Administration insured mortgages and Home Equity Conversion Mortgages.
o Additional Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Forces and Mission Ready Packages have been deployed; this includes:

Of Note:
· The fires that are still not fully contained are:
o Lahaina Fire: 2,170 acres and is 85% contained. There remain no active threats.
o Upcountry Fire: 678 acres and is 60% contained. Hot spots in gulches, forests, and other hard-to-reach places exist, making full containment difficult.
· The Hawaiian National Guard has two helicopters on standby for any immediate firefighting needs.
· There are now 99 confirmed fatalities with 33% of the affected areas searched:
o Four of the victims have been positively identified.
o DNA samples from family members are being requested and they can provide samples at the Family Assistance Center.

State Response and Recovery Updates:
o The State Emergency Operations Centers remain fully activated.
o Hawaiian Electric and the Hawaiian Housing Finance and Development Corporation have launched a Fire Relief Housing Program. This program will assist Maui residents with available housing. Details on this program are available here.
o The Hawaiian Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster is supporting the recruitment of volunteers for their member organizations. Details are available here.
Federal Response and Recovery Updates:
o Over 300 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees and more than 140 Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team members have been deployed.
o 17 specialists from the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team have been deployed to Maui.
o Three additional Human Remains Detection K9 teams have been requested.
o On August 14th, FEMA activated the Transitional Sheltering Assistance and Critical Needs Assistance Program: These programs provide relief to survivors by supplying shelter, or money to cover urgent needs like food, water, or medical supplies.
o The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service approved Hawaii’s request for impacted Child Nutrition Programs and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
o The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed the installation of mobile temporary power units to help restore power to some locations in West Maui.
o The U.S. Coast Guard is shifting its operations to minimizeremain maritime environmental impacts due to the wildfires.

State Response Updates:
o The State Emergency Operations Center has returned to normal operations.
o The Hawaiian Department of Land and Natural Resources has published aerial photos and videos of all the fires on Maui. There are available here.
Federal Response and Recovery Updates:
o The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has deployed more than 250 personnelo As of August 13th, almost 3,000 valid registrations for Individual Assistance have been received.
o The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended search and rescue missions. There have been no confirmed missing persons in the waters around Maui.
o The two Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces (WA-TF1 & NV-TF1) have arrived on Maui and are augmented with K9 search teams and Human Remains Detection K9s.
o Federal ESF 3 has deployed Temporary Emergency Pre-Installation Teams. These teams will conduct an initial assessment of the Sheraton Hotel for the potential of housing survivors and first responders.
o The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has approved a Public Health Emergency declaration which is effective from August 8th to November 6th.
